Our upgrade procedure allows you to easily try new versions of BackupAssist with minimum fuss and to upgrade to the latest version if you choose to do so. Please select your upgrade process:
When you run BackupAssist v5 for the first time, you’ll be asked whether you want to import the job settings from your older v4 installation.
Choose “Yes" to run the migration wizard and then select "Begin migration" to effect the data migration. Your old settings will then be imported into v5, and the older v4 services will be disabled.
Please note: both versions can coexist on your system, but disabling the v4 services mean that the only backup jobs that will run will be those in v5 of the software.

When upgrading to v5 to v3, BackupAssist will automatically detect your v3 settings and migrate them across to v5 when the installation process is executed.
Please be aware that your computer needs to be running BackupAssist version 3.5.3 for the Automatic Migration Tool to work. If you are using an older version of BackupAssist v3.x, please update your version of BackupAssist v3 to v3.5.3 by running the v3 upgrader.
